Designer looks on a budget

Shopping on a Budget

I wanted to find some new clothes to switch up my style to be more appropriate for the spaces I was networking in. I went shopping to change up my style and get ready for a new season approaching. I decided to go to all of the popular and recommended spots, H&M, Urban Outfitters, Express, to name a few.

Shopping at these locations I quickly realized wasn’t going to be cheap but I wanted the style they offered. Clothing that I could find at Saks Fifth Avenue or Nordstrom would be perfect for the style I was going for. I did some preliminary research and saw that Urban Outfitters had the sort of clothing I wanted but at a much more reasonable price.

I made some purchases and paid a more reasonable sum than that of Sax or Nordstrom. Some time later, I was shopping for some essentials at Walmart and I found myself over in the clothing section. To my surprise, I saw many of the same clothes that were in Urban Outfitters and even Saks. I investigated further to find that the prices were a fraction of what the others asked for similar styles of clothing. Urban Outfitters charged $29.00 for a shirt (Figure1) while Walmart charged $8.44 (Figure 2)for practically the same shirt.

There were some minor difference, ones I could barely notice and wouldn’t bother me at all. Differences such as loosened fabric and the colors weren’t the same as well. The experience completely changed my understanding of where I could find popular styles of clothing. Since then, I’ve made it a point to check out the Walmart clothing section every now and again.
